Who are we?
After over two decades of working with dogs in training, behaviour, rescue, welfare, and activism Niki Roe founded and opened the doors to Jacks Giant Journey dog rescue on the 18th of July 2022. Eight months later good friend, fellow rescuer, and veterinarian Dr Scarlet Aflalo-Meyrick joined her. Their mission quickly became not only to rescue and rehome the unwanted, but to try and educate the general public and actively participate in helping homeless and helpless dogs at the root cause.

Who is Jack and what was his GIANT journey?
Jack was originally an Egyptian local, and horifically he had been left for dead in the gutter, barely breathing with his mouth bound shut, his legs tied behind his back, and his emaciated body covered in scars.
Some good samaritans and vets helped him through the initial stages of his recovery, and then a charity imported him to England but failed him at the last moment. He arrived in the UK and was left without anywhere to go, so Scarlet and Niki agreed to foster him, and his resilience, strength and big character resulted in Niki adopting him!
Jack's Journey really has been epic, he escaped death, travelled across the sea, faced surgery, rehabilitation and not to mention the mental adjustment to a life so far from where he started. Jack never travelled alone though, and his rippling impact really has been giant!

Jack's impact and legacy
Jack's story is inspirational, he was the final push Niki needed to found her own rescue, and ignited a passion in Scarlet for rescue and rehabilitation.
Knowing Jacks origin story, and having worked first hand in behaviour sessions and in the veterinary clinic, JGJ rescue was clearly able to establish that they do not support the importation of dogs to the UK.
